Capco, Santiago R.
The National Museum, Manila, The Philippines.
Perhaps a short history of the check list is necessary, if only to call attention to the difficulty under which scientific work in the Philippines has been carried on during the war and in the postwar period. The check list was begun in 1939 in collaboration with the Bureau of Science, Natural History Division, Department of Agriculture and Commerce, Manila. Mr. Santiago R. Capco, then entomologist, was assigned to assist in getting it out. The manuscript was finished and ready to submit for publication in December, 1941. This original copy with its duplicate and all records were burned when the Bureau of Science was destroyed at the time of liberation.
Santiago Capco assisted with this checklist of the ants of Asia.
