Carebara hunanensis

Identification

This species resembles Carebara sauteri but can be distinguished from it by the straight notum of mesosoma and more ommatidia of eyes in the soldier, and propodeum having a pair of sharp teeth in the worker.

In Wu and Wang’s (1992) study, Carebara hunanensis was mistakenly identified as C. sauteri but was later corrected by Terayama (Wu and Wang 1995) (Liu et al., 2024).
