    • Type-material: holotype worker.
    • Type-locality: Democratic Republic of Congo (“Belgian Congo”): Ubangi Dist., Libenge, 25.x.1910 (Schubotz).
    • Type-depository: Zoological Museum Hamburg (Stitz, 1916: 371).
    • [Note: Hamburg zoological museum was destroyed in World War II; but holotype may perhaps be in MNHU or ZMUH.]
    • Combination in C. (Sphaerocrema): Wheeler, W.M. 1922a: 847.
    • Status as species: Emery, 1922e: 153; Wheeler, W.M. 1922a: 847; Santschi, 1926b: 227; Menozzi, 1942: 169; Bernard, 1953b: 233; Bolton, 1995b: 156.
