Taylor et al. (2018) report this species from nests in dead wood and under dry bark, and found it occasionally on cocoa (rare) and native shrubs, as well as on coffee.

Taylor et al (2018) also report it being smaller, darker and with longer propodeal spines than Crematogaster solenopsides, and therefore consider it a full, separate species. However, this treatment has not been accepted by subsequent authors.
