  • melancholicus. Pachycondyla melancholica Smith, F. 1865: 71 (w.) INDONESIA (Morotai I.). Combination in Platythyrea: Emery, 1897c: 575; in Pachycondyla: Brown, 1975: 47; in Ectomomyrmex: Schmidt & Shattuck, 2014: 193. Junior synonym of Platythyrea parallela: Wilson, 1958d: 151. Revived from synonymy: Brown, 1975: 47.

Holotype worker in Oxford University Museum of Natural History. Labelled “M” (= Morotai (Morty) I.), and on a square of card, “TYPE.”
