BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Dr. Walther Faber was born in 1921 at Innsbruck (Austria) and passed away on 19 June 1979, at the age of nearly 59 years. He made his PhD at Innsbruck in 1949.

During most of his professional work Walter Faber was engaged in applied entomology, among others in the control of Colorado beetle, cockchafer (Melolontha) and other pest organisms. Studying ants was a hobby, but his observations and contributions to myrmecology remain highly remarkable.
