Description
DIAGNOSIS Similar to other members of the "carapuna complex" (Pheidole boltoni, Pheidole carapuna, Pheidole cuprina, Pheidole jivaro, Pheidole manuana and Pheidole celaena), especially with celaena, with which it may be synonymous.
Major: a small but conspicuous protrusion on the mid-clypeus; postpetiole from above conulate; propodeum, mesopleuron, and margins of meso no tum and pronotum foveolate; entire rear third of head sm,ooth and shiny.
Minor: occiput narrowed, with thin nuchal collar; propodeal spines reduced to denticIes in side view and to obtuse angles in dorsaloblique view; all of meso soma and sides of waist foveolate and opaque. .
MEASUREMENTS (mm) Holotype major: HW 1.70, HL 1.88, SL 0.80, EL 0.22, PW 0.70. Paratype minor: HW 0.54, HL 0.62, SL 0.66, EL 0.10, PW 0.34.
COLOR Major: head and mandibles reddish brown, rest of body medium yellowish brown, other appendages light yellowish brown.
Minor: body yellowish brown, appendages dark yellow.
