The following information is derived from Barry Bolton's New General Catalogue, a catalogue of the world's ants.

  • diaphanta. Polyrhachis diaphantus Smith, F. 1861b: 40, pl. 1, fig. 12 (w.) INDONESIA (Sulawesi). Combination in P. (Myrmhopla): Emery, 1925b: 194. Junior synonym of acantha: Emery, 1900d: 717. Revived from synonymy as subspecies of acantha: Emery, 1925b: 194. Revived status as species: Donisthorpe, 1932c: 466.

Type Material

Kohout (2008) - Holotype worker. INDONESIA, SULAWESI, Tondano (A. R. Wallace), Oxford University Museum of Natural History (examined).

Polyrhachis diaphantus

Two worker syntypes in Oxford University Museum of Natural History. Both labelled “Tond.” (= Tondano, Sulawesi) and with a Donisthorpe type-label.
