- Type-material: holotype worker, 2 paratype workers.
- Type-locality: holotype Colombia: Valle, 20 km. W Queremal, nr junction of San Juan & Digua Rivers, 1300 m., 24.v.1975 (W.G. Eberhard & J. Lattke); paratypes with same data.
- Type-depositories: MIZA (holotype); MCZC, MIZA (paratypes).
- Status as species: Brandão, 1991: 325; Bolton, 1995b: 64; Zabala, 2008: 130; Fernández & Guerrero, 2019: 515.
- Distribution: Colombia.
