The taxon names used within Antwiki were originally created using Barry Bolton's New General Catalogue, a list of the world's ants. Within the Catalogue names are classified in a number of ways, such as those that are valid (that is, are currently in use), synonyms (and are not in use) and fossils. The following lists have been created based on this information and provide an easy way to find sets of names grouped by their rank and taxonomic status.
The links to the lists that follow include unusual or informal taxonomic name categories or are names that are listed together for a reason unrelated to taxonomy.
