Bertkau, Philipp (1849-1894)
BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Philipp Bertkau, born on 11 January 1849 in Cologne and died on 22 October 1894 in Bonn, is a zoologist German.
Il suit des études de sciences naturelles à Bonn où il obtient son titre de docteur en 1872 . He studied natural sciences at Bonn, where he obtained his Ph.D. in 1872. En automne 1873 , il est nommé assistant à l'Institut de botanique de Munich qu'il quitte dès le printemps de l'année suivante pour devenir assistant à l'Institut zoologique de Bonn. In autumn 1873, he was appointed assistant at the Botanical Institute in Munich to leave in the spring of next year to become an assistant at the Zoological Institute in Bonn. Il obtient son agrégation la même année. It gets its aggregation in the same year.
Il participe activement à la Société d'histoire naturelle de la ville et en devient son secrétaire. It participates actively in the Natural History Society of the city and became its secretary. Le 6 novembre 1882 , Bertkau est nommé professeur à l'Académie agricole de Poppelsdorf . On 6 November 1882, Bertkau was appointed professor at the Academy of Agricultural Poppelsdorf. En 1890 , il devient conservateur à l'Institut de zoologie et d'anatomie comparée, place spécialement créée pour lui. In 1890, he became a curator at the Institute of Zoology and Comparative Anatomy, place specially created for him.
À 44 ans, il est atteint de troubles nerveux et de paralysie et meurt peu après. At 44, he suffers from nervous disorders and paralysis and died shortly afterwards.
Il a notamment travaillé sur l'anatomie des arthropodes hermaphhrodites, sur l'odorat chez les papillons et sur l'anatomie et la physiologie des araignées . He worked on the anatomy of arthropods hermaphhrodites, the smell at the butterflies and the anatomy and physiology of spiders. Il s'occupa de systématique , notamment chez des araignées d' Amérique du Sud et publia quelques listes locales. He is systematic, particularly among spiders of South America and published a few local listings.
