Specimen Labels

Collections of Camponotus klugii are from a variety of habitats. The data suggests this species prefers conditions in areas with dense vegetation and rocky terrain, e.g., Acacia thicket on stony ground and Camdeboo Escarpment Thicket on a steep rocky slope. Collections have been obtained from ground sampling, Protea inflorescences, and dead wood. The latter include colonies found inside dead branches, both on the ground and in standing vegetation, and in rotten wood.
