Junior synonym of irritabilis: Mayr, 1879: 648; Dalla Torre, 1893: 236. Revived from synonymy as subspecies of irritabilis: Forel, 1911a: 51; Wheeler, W.M. 1919e: 110; Emery, 1925b: 135. Revived status as species: Donisthorpe, 1932c: 444.
