- melanocephala. Pheidologeton melanocephalus Donisthorpe, 1948g: 134 (s.w.) NEW GUINEA (Indonesia).
- Type-material: 2 syntype major workers, 6 syntype minor workers.
- Type-locality: Indonesia: Irian Jaya (“Dutch New Guinea”), Maffin Bay, vii.1944, in rotting sago palm log (E.S. Ross).
- Type-depository: CASC.
- Combination in Carebara: Fischer, et al. 2014: 72.
