Identification

Eotemnothorax foveocephalus well differs from all known Eotemnothorax species by the peculiar sculpture on its head dorsum: it has big, deep, numerous foveae.

Type Material

  • Holotype worker, complete specimen, Baltic amber, 12/227 (MNB) (with a worker of Yantaromyrmex sp. in the same piece of amber).

Locality. Poland, Baltic amber, late Eocene, Priabonian age, 37.8–33.9 Ma.
