Identification

Gyne of E. pedunculatus well differs from all known Eotemnothorax species first of all by the shape of petiole (which is long and with low node, more than twice as long as height, which is more than in all known species), and by the presence of the long antennal scape surpassing occipital margin.

This taxon was described from Bitterfeld amber, Baltic Sea region, Europe (Priabonian, Late Eocene) and Rovno amber, Baltic Sea region, Europe (Priabonian, Late Eocene).

Type Material

  • Holotype gyne, complete specimen, Bitterfeld amber, 27.188 (GZG.BST) (collection of M. Kutscher).
  • Paratypes: male, Bitterfeld amber, 27.033 (GZG.BST) (collection of M. Kutscher); male, Rovno amber, K-4236 (SIZK).

Localities. Germany, Saxony-Anhalt, Bitterfeld amber; Ukraine, Rivne Prov., Rovno amber, both late Eocene, Priabonian age, 37.8–33.9 Ma.
