Identification
Eotemnothorax rhytidus well differs from all known Eotemnothorax species with moderately long propodeal spines (except for Eotemnothorax rav) by the coarse rugose sculpture, combined with the smooth and shiny body surface, by abundant standing hairs, and bigger body size. It differs from E. rav by the distinctly longer petiole (PL/PH 1.40 vs. 1.15–1.16), longer propodeal spines, and especially by the shape of the frontal carinae: they do not curve outwards and do not merge with the rugae that surround antennal sockets in E. rhytidus, but they are curved outwards to merge with the rugae that surround the antennal sockets in E. rav.
