Formica incerta - I have found this species of ant in virtually every natural and reconstructed prairie in Missouri, and even in lawns and parks, if they're not over tended (i.e., watered, chemically weeded, or fertilized). The ant is about 4.5 mm long. Shaw Nature Reserve.
