BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Manuel Medina Ramos (1 January 1861, Arrabal, Sevilla, Spain -- 8 July 1922, Sevilla, Spain) was a spanish entomologist. Studied Medicine at the University of Sevilla where he became Professor of Anatomy. Manuel Medina published principally on Hymenoptera (ants included), but also on Coleoptera, Orthoptera, Hemiptera and Lepidoptera. He got a good collection of insects, mainly Hymenoptera, which deposited in the University of Seville. This collection was lost in large part and what's left of it is preserved in the National Museum of Natural History and in the Zoology Department of the Complutense University, both in Madrid.
