The following information is derived from Barry Bolton's New General Catalogue, a catalogue of the world's ants.

  • speculifera. Pheidole speculifera Emery, 1877b: 373 (s.w.) ETHIOPIA. Santschi, 1930c: 268 (m.); Bernard, 1953b: 223 (q.). [Misspelled as speculifrons by Dalla Torre, 1893: 96.] Current subspecies: nominal plus ascara, bispecula, cubangensis.
