- kurandensis. Rhytidoponera kurandensis Brown, 1958g: 267 (w.) AUSTRALIA (Queensland).
- Type-material: holotype worker, 18 paratype workers.
- Type-locality: holotype Australia: N Queensland, Kuranda, nr Cairns (W.L. Brown); paratypes: 14 workers “from six or more nest series from Kuranda and immediate vicity”, 19.x.1915 (W.M. Wheeler), 29-30.x.1950 (W.L. Brown), 1.xi.1950 (W.L. Brown), 4 workers Queensland, Cairns dist. (F.P. Dodd).
- Type-depositories: MCZC (holotype); ANIC, MCZC, USNM (paratypes).
- Status as species: Taylor & Brown, 1985: 44; Taylor, 1987a: 69; Bolton, 1995b: 379.
