Biology

This species is a host for the ant Temnothorax brunneus (a slave maker) in Morocco (Buschinger & Douwes, 1990).

  • rottenbergii. Macromischa rottenbergii Emery, 1870: 199 (w.q.) ITALY (Sicily). Emery, 1895b: 69 (m.). Combination in Leptothorax: Emery, 1878b: 51; in Temnothorax: Bolton, 2003: 271. Current subspecies: nominal plus ernesti, jesus, scabriosus. See also: Emery, 1916b: 187.
