ANT TAXONOMY

The study included the identification and taxonomic status of Egyptian formicid ants. The species were collected from South Sinai and the Delta using pitfall traps. Illustrated keys to the subfamilies, genera, and species were created, and the geographical distributions and synonyms are provided for all genera and species. Tetramorium salwae n. sp. was described from Sahab (southern Sinai). Seven species were new records to the Egyptian fauna: Cataglyphis minimus Collingwood, Monomorium carbonarium (Smith), Cardiocondyla wroughtonii Forel, Aphaenogaster phillipsi Wheeler, Aphaenogaster syriacum Emery, Tetramorium brevicorne Bondroit and Tetramorium depressiceps Monozzi.
