This taxon was described from Congo. It is also found in Kenya and Ivory Coast.

  • rugosa. Crematogaster rugosa André, 1895a: 3 (w.) CONGO. Emery, 1899e: 484 (q.). Combination in C. (Sphaerocrema): Wheeler, W.M. 1922a: 848; Santschi, 1926b: 228. Current subspecies: nominal plus nigriventris, rugaticeps.
