This is a myrmecophilous genus of Staphylinidae with one species. Macrotrachelos gen. nov., due to its general appearance of having a very long and rectangular head and rhombic pronotum, can be readily distinguished from any other species of the subtribe Clavigerodina with three-segmented antennae.
