    • Type-locality: “America meridionali”.

    • Combination in Labidus: Leach, 1815: 147; Latreille, 1817b: 556; Latreille, 1817f: 141; Lepeletier de Saint-Fargeau, 1835: 230 (footnote).
    • [Note: Shuckard, 1840b: 262, says “that it (mediatus) cannot belong to either of these genera” (Dorylus or Labidus). Westwood, 1842: 78, says that the holotype of mediatus was a male Mutilla, having been examined by Dr Erichson in the Royal Museum of Copenhagen.]
    • Status as species: Leach, 1815: 147; Latreille, 1817b: 556; Lepeletier de Saint-Fargeau, 1835: 230 (footnote), Shuckard, 1840b: 261; Westwood, 1842: 78.
